On May 25, 2011, we made our usual early viewing of the animals and the count was the same as the previous day.  However, sometime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Carmela decided it was time for her to present her first cria to the world.

Too often the llama offspring does not resemble father OR mother, but in this instance coloring and appearance leaves no doubt who this little girl belongs to.

Needless to say, up and at 'em on day 1! (Note those similarities in color and location.  Even her face resembles that of her mother Carmela.)

The other "little ones" had to come over and "introduce themselves."

This is the first female llama born at our farm.  Quite dainty but it didn't take long to decide that she should be known as "Cria Sophia."

As always, this below sight was welcomed as it is NOT my desire to assume the duties of the mother's milk bar.
